Jane Verity is the founder and CEO of Dementia Care Australia. Click here for a more comprehensive Jane Verity biography. For 15 years, Dementia Care Australia has been involved in the professional development of aged care facility staff through on-site training and presentations - covering a specialised range of topics; and through one-on-one consultations with facility owners, management and therapy staff, both addressing specific concerns and implementing the Spark of Life Club Program. We have also helped many home carers, families and others whose lives have been touched by dementia; both through our public presentations and in private consultation. We now offer anyone who is caring for people with dementia a supported partnership . Through membership of Dementia Care Australia we promise to support you in any way we can in your endeavours to rekindle the Spark of Life in people with dementia. Membership is offered at two levels - individual or facility - and support is offered in a wide variety of media depending on the level of membership: printed and emailed newsletters, audio presentation, a large library of online articles, weekly emailed tips, and teleconferences, multiple forums for discussion, advice or support. In fact we are committed to using all communication tools at our disposal (print, audio, video, telephone, and videoconference) to their fullest extent to allow us to support as many people as possible. Dementia Care Australia (DCA) is an independent information and education organisation specialising in supporting both people with dementia and their carers; be they family members, professional carers, employers or friends. Our mission is to change society's attitude towards dementia to one of hope. The essential philosophy underpinning all our beliefs and intentions is that the Spark of Life can be rekindled in both people with dementia and in the people who care for and support them. Our aim is to inform, educate, enlighten and inspire both carers, and all people living with dementia. Our approach is one that encourages effective communication, positive relationships, and improved social and emotional wellbeing for all. We call this the Spark of Life Approach.
