Good health and well-being comprise far more than just our physical and medical condition. Our social, emotional and spiritual well-being are equally important for good health; and, even more so, for people who have dementia where these aspects of well-being can often be overlooked.

Dementia is not a disease, but rather an umbrella term for a variety of symptoms that may accompany or indicate certain diseases or conditions. Many symptoms may be reversible when caused by treatable conditions, such as: dehydration, constipation, infection, vitamin deficiencies and imbalances, pain, medication poisoning, brain tumours or depression.

Once any of the above existing conditions have been cured, the dementia symptoms are likely to disappear or return to the level they were at before the condition appeared.

We will not be covering all the medical aspects on this topic here. We leave those to the experts in that field. However, we will be continually updating and adding to this area to provide the best overall good health and well-being advice for people with dementia.
