Asia is growing old and 54% of the world's elderly, that's 363 million people, live in this region. The inaugural Asia Forum on Ageing 2009 sought to introduce new concepts and discuss innovative ways to ensure a sustainable future for an older Asia. Jane was one of many international experts invited to share her knowledge as she introduced the Spark of Life Approach to enthusiastic participants. Researchers, policy makers and practitioners converged on the Suntec Singapore International Convention Centre from 11-14 January to hear of developments in the aged care field. Jane also had the opportunity to dine with the government officials from the Ministry of Health who were very excited to hear of how the Spark of Life Approach can transform the experience of people with dementia. The conference was organised by the Tsao Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older people by alleviating the hardships of ageing through its community health services. They promote successful ageing and pioneer new approaches to ageing and eldercare throughout Singapore and Asia.
