When choosing a residential care home, there are many aspects to
consider beyond the outer appearance of a newly built, state-of-the-art
aged care facility. The word 'home' says it all. Is the facility you
have in mind home-like?
Is the attitude about hugs not drugs? Choosing the right staff? Maintaining and encouraging the skills and abilities of people with
dementia? Or meeting their social and emotional needs, as well as
their physical wellbeing?
We aim to change current attitudes where the care of a person's social and emotional
needs is considered just as important as the care of their physical needs.
And where going into a nursing home is an event
to look forward to with anticipation and faith in the knowledge it can
still be home-like.
